Nalda Searles
Nalda Searles, with a practice spanning 25 years, is a fibre textile maker who has developed communion with indigenous and non indigenous craftswomen through use of locally available plant materials and other recycled textiles into unique artistic forms. She has a BA Fine Arts Curtin University with a painting major and is self taught in fibre textiles.
Since 1988 she has taught university textile students at an annual art camp in the West Australian landscape. Since 1990 she has done many artist in residencies and workshops with aboriginal women, often in collaboration with her friend, artist Pantjiti Mary Mclean with whom she has been working for the last 15 years. She has exhibited extensively and is numerous collections. Nalda is featured in the recent publication Art Textiles of the World: Australia Vol 2.
Associated with this exhibiltion, Nalda will run a four-day intensive workshop at the Barn (Rosny Farm) 13 - 16 March 2008.
